Job Position – Barista Services Associate

The Barista Services Associate is responsible for serving all food and products with friendly, individualized attention towards each customer. He/she is also responsible for educating customers about board games and providing friendly advice and assistance when required. The barista services associate fulfills any other duties the associate manager, or business owner assigns on an as-needed basis. As eligible candidates are a reflection of the business, they must also be a positive reflection of socially accepted community standards in Nanaimo BC.

15-20 hours per week (Evenings) beginning in November 2017.

Duties:

  • Ensures that all customers are educated on our products and services in a friendly, kind and courteous manner.
  • Maintains the highest quality, consistent product standards possible.
  • Follows all drink recipes and procedures in preparation of drink products.
  • Cleaning of dishes, busing tables, and other house cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Use of digital Point-of-sale system for sales, inventory, and cash-out.
  • Restocks shelves when necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Greets all customers with fast, friendly, personalized service and develops a rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks, favorite board games and food items.
  • Communicates customer’s orders to food manager in a friendly manner.
  • Reports all customer complaints to manager on duty.
  • Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations.
  • Accurately rings sales orders into cash register and counts back change to customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Answers customer questions regarding ingredients, allergens, and other food related questions.
  • Maintains efficient, friendly service.

Requirements, Qualifications & Physical Demands:

  • Available to work special events, as needed.
  • Maintains positive morale and professional attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented.
  • Experience using a espresso machine preferred.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and communicate.
  • Regularly required to handle food and hot beverages (food safe preferred)
